The Cincinnati Wind Band
The Cincinnati Wind Band is the city’s official wind band. Founded in 2010 as the Fillmore Wind Band, the ensemble consists of professional and semi-professional musicians from the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. The mission of the Cincinnati Wind Band is to promote diverse, high-quality, and entertaining band literature; preserve and promote the rich heritage of community bands in Cincinnati, Ohio; present regular concerts for the Greater Cincinnati community; provide community outreach and educational support to the greater Cincinnati, Ohio area, and to represent Cincinnati at regional and national performances.
In promoting music for winds and percussion, the Cincinnati Wind Band has commissioned and premiered numerous works of artistic merit. Additionally, the ensemble has performed at The Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference, the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s 2016 American Music Festival, the 2013, 2016, and 2020 Ohio Music Educators Association Conference, the 2015 Kentucky Music Educators Association Conference, the 2014 Women’s International Brass Conference, and a demonstration clinic on “March Performance Practice” at The Midwest Clinic in 2016. In 2017, the ensemble founded “WindFest” which invites ensembles from the Greater Cincinnati area to perform in celebration at Cincinnati’s famed Music Hall.
