The Cincinnati Wind Band
The Cincinnati Wind Band is the official wind band of the city. Founded in 2010 as the Fillmore Wind Band, the ensemble later adopted its current name and has since grown into one of the nation’s premiere adult wind bands. The ensemble has presented landmark performances at several of the country’s most significant venues and events, including The Midwest Clinic, the American Music Festival at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a joint collaboration with the Cleveland Winds at the Maltz Performing Arts Center, and a sold-out performance at New York City’s Carnegie Hall in June of 2025. The band has also appeared at the 2013, 2016, 2020, and 2024 Ohio Music Education Association Conference, the 2015 Kentucky Music Educators Association Conference, and the Women’s International Brass Conference. In addition, the Cincinnati Wind Band has premiered multiple new works and commissioned pieces from leading composers, contributing to the creation and advancement of bold new repertoire for wind ensemble.
The Cincinnati Wind Band’s mission is to present world-class wind band performances, commission bold new works, and inspire through mentorship, education, and innovative programming. The ensemble is the founder and host of WindFest, a large-scale celebration of wind bands held in Cincinnati’s historic Music Hall, home of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. The organization continues to pursue ambitious artistic collaborations and projects that elevate the artistic and cultural impact of wind band music across the country.
